SHORELARK AT A GLOOMY RECULVER.

Meeting Marc just before 6.30 a.m. this morning I had hoped to add a few species to my pathetic year list. Things began promisingly with  a Brambling flying over the caravan park calling noisily. While Heathy availed himself of the facilities I watched a Black Redstart bounce happily on the rocks by The Towers. The stroll to Cold Harbour was in increasingly poor light but a few birds made the notebook. There was small groups of Swallows still moving through with C110 Brent Geese at sea in varying groups.A single Little Grebe fed contentedly in the Oyster Farm with a Little Egret for company.Marc found a single Marsh Harrier and just before the Green Wall we found a single Shorelark. A few pictures were taken and within a few yards we found three Snow Buntings which were disturbed by an idiot dropping his camera bag onto the sea wall!At Cold Harbour we met a full compliment of Hindles who had  had an uneventful walk in from Chambers Wall.On the return very little was added with no sign of the Shorelark. Additional totals included; 4, Redpoll,2, Dunlin, 2 Shelduck, 22, Mallard,2, Curlew,6, Ringed Plover,3, Grey Plover,2 Rock Pipits and lots of Linnets.
