POP GOES THE WEASEL!

It has been an incredibly bleak month all round with atrocious weather conditions and school commitments. This was my first day out in March.Meeting Marc at the Towers at 7.00 a.m. we had planned to stroll down to  Coldharbour and wait for news of the Kentish Plover at Swalecliffe. To say the walk was bracing would be an understatement but a Peregrine and 3 Marsh Harriers made it more enjoyable.Inland we found 2 Kingfishers at the Wantsum which was unusual and counted a flock of Golden Plover c120.It was good to see a large group of c300 Starling in the sky.On the return leg we found a Weasel which allowed a few photographs in the gloom and a smart Black Redstart by the Towers which never allowed you very close.Other highlights which made the notebook were11 Bar- Tailed Godwits and 2 Snipe. On to Swalecliffe we spent an hour looking for the K.P. unsuccessfully but added Wheatear and Purple Sandpiper...possibly c50 dogs.A brief return to Reculver added nothing new.Hopefully a few more birds will find their way her in the next two weeks.
